About

A citizen-led initiative for practical preparedness in Europe.

Directive72.eu was born out of a simple but growing concern: Are we, as European citizens, truly prepared for the unexpected? Power outages, natural disasters, cyberattacks, supply chain disruptions, or temporary shortages are no longer distant scenarios — they are part of the world we live in. And when the unexpected happens, the first 72 hours are critical.

At the heart of this project is a collective, non-institutional initiative. We are not a governmental agency. We are not affiliated with any political or corporate entity. We are a group of European citizens — who believe that resilience begins at home. Our aim is to provide reliable, clear, and actionable tools to help individuals and families take responsibility for their own safety, without panic or overreaction.

Why “Directive 72”?

The name Directive 72 is a reference to the 72-hour rule widely recommended by various civil protection authorities across Europe. While the European Commission has not issued a formal directive on this topic, it has encouraged Member States and citizens to strengthen civil readiness, especially in light of recent global crises.

Several countries — including Germany, France, Belgium, and Sweden — now urge their populations to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours in case of disruption. This means having a basic stock of water, food, lighting, hygiene, first aid, communication tools, and essential documents. Our platform is designed to help fulfill that need — practically, transparently, and with a European sensibility.

What We Offer

Directive72.eu curates and assembles emergency essentials tailored for real European homes. We focus on products that meet the following criteria:

  • Tested utility in emergency scenarios

  • Long shelf life (5–25 years where applicable)

  • Compact formats suited for urban or limited storage spaces

  • Clarity of use – no training or technical knowledge required

  • Compatibility with EU guidance and household standards

We offer both pre-assembled base kits and modular add-ons, so everyone can build a 72-hour solution that suits their needs: individuals, couples, families, apartment dwellers, rural households, or even community groups.

Each item is selected for reliability and efficiency, not for marketing. We avoid gadgets, fads, or unnecessary complexity. Just the essentials — chosen with care.

Our Supply Philosophy

We make it a priority to source from local and EU-based partners whenever possible. This is both an ethical choice and a strategic one: encouraging local production chains strengthens our collective resilience.

That said, some components — especially in survival-grade categories like water filtration, vacuum-sealed packaging, or certain medical tools — are currently manufactured outside the EU. In these cases, we work with vetted international suppliers, primarily based in Asia, with whom we maintain strict quality control standards.

Our priority remains consistent: to guarantee availability, even during periods of high demand or logistical strain.

Our Values

Directive 72 is driven by four core principles:

  1. Preparedness without panic
We promote awareness and practical readiness — not fear or sensationalism.

  2. Transparency over branding
We don’t hide our sources or overpromise. What you see is what you get.

  3. Responsibility over dependence
We empower individuals to be less vulnerable, more autonomous, and better informed.

  4. Europe first
We design everything with the European citizen in mind: our geography, our infrastructure, our challenges.

Looking Ahead

Directive 72 is still growing. We are developing new tools, new guides, and new partnerships — including with educators, local communities, and preparedness professionals. Our long-term goal is to build a true culture of civil readiness across Europe, rooted in knowledge, calm action, and community solidarity.

If you're here, it means you’re already taking the first step. And for that, we thank you.
